COMPANDING

COMPANDING

Companding is a collective term to define

compressing the audio signal on transmission and expanding the audio signal on reception. The overall effect is to reduce noise in the received signal, giving you crisper, clearer audio clarity. Companding should only be used when other radios in your system have the same companding feature available.

You can switch Companding On or Off by using a pre-programmed Companding button or, via the menu.

Using the Menu

1 Ensure radio is in IDLE STATE.

2 Short press on Cto enter menu

3 G or Huntil

4 Short press on C to select

5 G or Huntil:

XPAND

Using the Companding Button

1.Press the Companding button to switch Com- panding on, when the feature enable alert will sound and the display will show:

XPANDON

2.Press the Companding button again to switch Companding off, when the feature is disabled an alert will sound and the display will show:

XPANDOFF

6Short press on C to show current status.

7G or H

toggles on/off

8Long press on C to select

9Display shows: (for 2 seconds)

10Radio exits menu mode and display shows e.g.:

ON

OFF

OFF

SELECTED
