Changing Balance and Fade on the DCP501

You can define the balance between left and right speakers, and between front and rear speakers with the balance and fade settings. Balance and fade settings should only be used to perform minor adjustments to the sound playback once the Speaker Test Tone Adjust has been conducted. This must be performed while sitting at the listening position. Balance/fade adjustments can reduce the maximum volume of the DCP501.

Balance and fade on the DCP501 are adjusted by attenuating the opposite set of channels. For example, if you want the balance all the way to the right, the DCP501 and the on-screen display show B A L A N C E : L - 2 0. Balance all the way to the left reads B A L A N C E : R - 2 0. The factory setting is 0 dB. The range for balance/fade is adjustable by up to 20 dB. To change the balance/fade settings on the DCP501:

1Press TONE/LEVEL three times to display B A L A N C E.

2Press SELECT and the current setting flashes.

3Press CURSOR left/right (< >) to set the balance between the left and right speakers and press

SELECT.

4Press TONE/LEVEL four times to display F A D E R on your TV or F A D E on the DCP501 display.
