This section covers the most commonly used Voice Mail features. Once you log into Voice Mail, there are a number of innovative features you can access. They are also covered in this section. After you access Voice Mail, an automated system tells you each menu option and which button to press to make a menu selection.

Setting Up Your Voice Mail Box

You must set up your Voice Mail box before you can retrieve messages. The following steps will tell you how to setup your mailbox. Before getting started, see “Recording Your Active Greeting” on page 45 for information you may want to include in your greeting.

1Using your Nextel phone, dial your 10-digit Nextel Personal Telephone Number (PTN). For example: 7035557777.

If you are calling from a phone other than your i55sr phone, dial your 10-digit Nextel Personal Telephone Number (PTN). When you hear the greeting, press * to access your Voice Mail box.

2The system will prompt you to Enter your password. Enter the last seven digits of your Nextel Personal Telephone Number. For example: 5557777. This is your temporary password.
