WAN Setup for DHCP (Cable Modem)
Options | We recommend leaving the following selected: | |
| • | NAT — Enables Network Address Translation |
| • | Firewall — Enables the VT2142 firewall |
Optional fields and buttons are:
Override MAC If your cable or DSL provider associates a particular service to a specific device, such as your
| computer, select this field and type that MAC address in the MAC field to use as a “virtual” |
| WAN MAC address instead of the VT2142 MAC address. By default, the MAC address printed |
| on the VT2142 is displayed in this field. |
Restore | Restores the actual VT2142 MAC address. |
Renew | Requests a new WAN IP address for your VT2142 from the DHCP server at Vonage. |
Release | Releases the VT2142 WAN IP address. |
If you are connecting to a virtual private network (VPN) only, set the PPTP Settings (see page 18).
