Removing the Battery

Turn the camera off and be sure that the power-on lamp and the monitor have turned off before opening the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover.

To eject the battery, open the battery-chamber/ memory card slot cover and slide the orange battery latch in the direction indicated by the arrow (1). The battery can then be removed by hand (2).

Note that the camera, battery, and memory card

may become hot during use; observe due caution when removing the battery and memory card.

First Steps

Turning On and Off the Camera

To turn on the camera, press the power switch. The power-on lamp (green) will light for a moment and the monitor will turn on.

To turn off the camera, press the power switch again. When the camera is turned off, both the power-on lamp and monitor will turn off.

If the camera is turned off, hold down the c button to turn the camera on in playback mode (A 32).

CPower Saving Function (Auto Off)

If no operations are performed for a while, the monitor will turn off, the camera will enter standby mode, and the power-on lamp will blink. If no operations are performed for another three minutes, the camera will turn off automatically.

To reactivate the monitor while the power on lamp is blinking, press any of the following buttons:

- Power switch, shutter-release button, A button, c button or b (movie-record) button

Camera enters standby mode in about a minute (default setting) during shooting or playback mode. The time allowed to elapse before the camera enters standby mode can be changed from the Auto off option (A 153) in the setup menu (A 142).

In projector mode (A 163), the camera enters standby mode in about five minutes (default setting). The time allowed to elapse before the camera enters standby mode can be changed from

the Auto off option (A 173) in the projector settings menu (A 172).
