1Press the shutter-release button halfway.

Focus is locked when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway (A 8).

When a face is detected, it is framed by the double border indicating the active focus area. When the subject is in focus, the double border turns green.

Shutter speed

The camera automatically selects the focus area (up to nine areas) suitable to the shooting scene. When the subject is in focus, the focus area (A 12, 50) that is selected is displayed in green.

When digital zoom is used, the focus area is not displayed

Focus indicator

and the camera focuses at the center of the frame. Once

 

focus has been acquired, the focus indicator will glow

 

green.

 

When the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the

 

 

shutter speed and aperture value are also displayed.

 

Focus and exposure remain locked while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway.

When the camera detects subject movement or camera shake and increases shutter speed, the shutter speed indicator will turn green (motion detection; A 51).

If the focus area or the focus indicator blinks red when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the camera is unable to focus. Modify the composition and press the shutter-release button halfway again.

2Press the shutter-release button the rest of the way down.

The shutter is released and the picture will be recorded to the memory card or internal memory.
