If you have any trouble using the CBX-300, look for a solution in this section.

If you can’t resolve the issue yourself, try resetting the CBX-300 before contacting your Onkyo dealer.

To reset the CBX-300 to its factory defaults, unplug the power cord, and while holding down the CBX-300’s [STANDBY/ON] but- ton, plug the power cord back into the wall outlet. “RESET” will appear on the display and the CBX-300 will enter Standby mode.

Note that resetting the CBX-300 will delete your radio presets and custom settings.

Power

Can’t turn on the CBX-300.

Make sure that the power cord is properly plugged into the wall outlet (see page 19).

Make sure that the power cord is properly plugged into the CBX-300’s AC INLET (see page 19).

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, wait 5 seconds or more, then plug it in again.

The CBX-300 turns off unexpectedly.

If the sleep timer has been set and the SLEEP indicator is shown on the display, the CBX-300 will turn off automat- ically after a specified period (see page 47).

When timed playback finishes, the CBX-300 automatically switches to Standby mode (see pages 42 to 45).

Audio

There’s no sound.

Make sure the CBX-300’s volume is not set too low (see page 20).

Make sure the correct input source is selected (see page 20).

Make sure the CBX-300 is not muted (see page 21).

Check all connections and correct as necessary (see pages 16 to 19).

While headphones are connected, the internal speakers output no sound (see page 20).

The sound quality is not good.

Make sure all audio connecting plugs are pushed in all the way (see page 18).

The sound quality can be affected by strong magnetic fields, such as that from a TV. Try moving any such devices away from the CBX-300.

If you have any devices that emit high-intensity radio waves near the CBX-300, such as a cellular phone that’s being used to make a call, the CBX-300 may output noise.

The CBX-300’s precision drive mechanism may emit a faint hissing sound while reading discs during playback or when searching for tracks. You may be able to hear this noise in extremely quiet environments.

Audio output is intermittent when the CBX-300 is subjected to vibration.

• The CBX-300 is not a portable device. Use it in a location that’s not subject to shock or vibration.

Headphone output is intermittent or there’s no sound.

This may be due to dirty contacts. Clean the headphones plug. See your headphones’ instruction manual for cleaning information. Also, make sure that the headphones cable is not broken or damaged.
