Taking Pictures with the Zoom
You can zoom-in to make people and objects appear closer or zoom-out to record
landscapes in w ide angle. To make subjec ts appear even clo ser [maximum o f 9.8k], do
not set the picture size t o the highest setting fo r each aspect ratio (X/Y/W).
Even higher levels of magnification are possible when [DIGITALZOOM] is set to [ON] in
[REC] menu.
∫Types of zooms
•When using the zoom fu n ct i o n, an es ti m a te of t he f oc u s ra n ge wi l l appear in conjunction with
the zoom display bar. (Example: 0.5 m (1.64 ft.) –)
¢The magnification level differs depending on [PICTURE SIZE ] and [ASPECT RATIO] setting.
∫Extended Optical zoom mechanism
When you set the picture size to [ ] (3 million pixels), the 12M (12.1 million pixels) CCD area
is cropped to the center 3M (3million pixels) area, allowing a picture with a higher zoom effect.

Direction detection function

Using the Optical Zoom/Using the Extended Optical Zoom (EZ)/Using

the Digital Zoom

To make subjects appear closer use (Tele)

Rotate the zoom lever towards Tele(T ).

To make subjects appear further away use (Wide)

Rotate the zoom lever towards Wide(W).
