Troubleshooting
First, try out the following procedures (P113–119).
The battery is not inserted c orr ectly. (P14)
The battery is exhausted.
Is [AUTO LCD OF F ] (P24) of the [EC ONOMY] mode ac tive?
>Press the shutter button half way to cancel these modes.
The battery is exhausted.
The battery is exhausted.
If you leave the camera on, the battery will be exhausted.
>Turn the camera off frequently by using the [ECONOMY] mode etc. (P24 )
Is the temperature of the battery excessively high or low? If it is, it will take longer than usual to
charge the battery or chargi ng may remain incomplete.
Are the terminals of the charg er or battery dirty?
>Wipe off the dirt using a dry cloth.
Is the [REC]/[PLAYBACK] selector switch at the [!] setting? (P27)
Is the mode dial correctly set?
Is there any memory remaining on the built-in memory or the card?
>Delete the pictures which ar e not necessary to increase the a vai l a ble memory. (P37)
The picture can become whi tis h if there is dirt e.g. fingerpri nts on t he lens.
>If the lens is dirty, turn on the camera , eje ct the lens barrel (P11) and gently wipe th e l ens
surface with a soft dry cloth.
Was this picture taken with the fla sh at the close range when the zoom was nea r [W] (1k)?
>Zoom in a little, and then take the pictures. (P34)
Was this picture taken in [PIN HOLE] in Scene mode?
If the problem is not resolved, it may be improved by selecting [RESET]
(P25)
on the
[SETUP] menu when taking p ictures.

Battery and power source

The camera cannot be ope rated even when it is turn ed on.
The LCD monitor turns off while the camera is tur ned on.
The camera turns of f immediately after it is turned on.
The [CHARGE] lamp flashes.

Recording

The picture cannot be re corded.
The recorded picture is wh itish.
The area around wher e the pictures were taken becomes dark.
