ºWhen you have connected the unit to other

equipment with an optical digital cable

You cannot change the audio type when you have used only an op- tical digital cable for connection in the following cases:

³While playing stereo broadcasts recorded on DVD-RAM. ³While playing MTS broadcasts recorded on DVD-RAM. ³While playing something recorded from other equipment.

To change the audio type

³Set “Dolby Digital” to “PCM” (page 86). Or

³Connect to an amplifier with an audio/video cable and change the input on the amplifier to suit the connection.

When using DVD-R

You cannot use [AUDIO] or the on-screen menu icons to change audio type while playing or recording with DVD-R.

³While receiving SAP broadcasts

You can use the ACTION menus to select which audio type is recorded, either “Main” or “SAP”. “Main” is the default setting (page 83, Audio—MTS Selection for DVD-R Disc).

³During play

The audio type selected for recording is played. This is displayed as “LR”.
