CONNECTING POWER

The NVR5100 is equipped with two hot-swappable power supplies. These autoranging power supplies adapt automatically to voltages between 100 VAC and 240 VAC (50/60 Hz).

You should also install an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), which is not supplied. UPS devices maintain a limited amount of backup battery power in case the main power fails. Refer to Appendix D: Installing an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) on page 37 for more information.

NOTE: Connect each power supply to a different branch circuit. This ensures optimal performance, reduces possible video loss, and reduces power leakage to a safe level.

Connect two of the supplied US, European, or UK standard power cords to rear of the unit, and then connect each cord to the appropriate power source:

1.Connect one power cord to the back of the primary power supply’s power connector.

2.Connect the other end of this power cord to the appropriate power source.

3.Connect the second power cord to the back of the secondary power supply’s power connector.

4.Connect the other end of this power cord to the appropriate power source.

When connected, the power supply status indicators glow solid red. As soon as the unit starts, the indicators glow solid green. During operation, if either indicator is dark or glows red, there is a problem with the power supply. Refer to Appendix E: Troubleshooting on page 37 for more information.
