UNDERSTANDING PARENTAL CONTROLS

arental control is a feature that lets the TV receive and process data sent by broadcasters or other program providers with program content advisory. When programmed by the viewer, a TV with Parental Control can respond to the content advisory and block program content that may be found objectionable (such as offensive language, violence, sexual situations, etc.). This feature is useful for adults to prevent certain types of programs from being viewed by children.

Parental control offers the following features to choose from:

V-chip Setting - allows you to block programs by ratings. Within its submenu, you can use a certain rating like Movie Ratings, USA TV Content Ratings, Unrated or No Rating.

Movie Ratings - Certain blocking options exist which will block programming based on ratings patterned by the Motion Pictures Association of America (MPAA).

USA TV Content Ratings - Like the Movie Ratings, programs can be blocked from viewing using standard TV ratings set by USA TV broadcasters.

Unrated / No Rating - All programs with no content advisory data can be blocked if Unrated / No Rating

is set to .

,,

Master Enable - Is a

,,

master switch for parental lock. When set to , all blocking/censoring you have set is enabled.

Otherwise, if set to

, all blocking is disabled.

Child Lock - When set to , the front panel of the TV is locked and the TV can be operated by the remote control only.

Create Password - A password must be set to prevent children from unblocking questionable or censored programming set by their parents.

NOTE: All the above features are available in both Digital mode and Analog mode. Whether they are activated in either Digital mode or Analog mode, they work in both modes.

Downloadable V-chip- Lets you lock or unlock the programs with a new, different rating region code of 0x05 defined by extension or replacement of the content advisory system in the U.S. . This feature is only available in Digital mode and when there is a regional rating table available.
