Beas near as possible to the centre line of the vessel.
Beclear of other through-hull fittings or projections.
Havesufficient clearance inside the hull to fit the nut.
Have100 mm (4 in)of headroom to allow for withdrawal.
Inaddition to the above requirements, the depth transducer must be
mountedwithin 100of the vertical, forward, aft and athwart ships.
Instrument
CAUTION:
Thepresence of moistureat the rear of the instrument could cause
damageeither by entering thei nstrumentthrough the breathing
holeor by coming into contact with the electrical connectors .
ST60instruments can be fitted either above or below deck, provided the
rearof the instrument is sited where it is protected from contact with wat er.
Eachinstrument must also be positioned where:
Itis easily read by the helmsman
Itis protected against physical damage
Itis at least 230 mm (9 in)from a compass
Itis at least 500 mm (20 in)from radio receiving equipment
Thereis reasonable rear access for installation andservicing
