Learn how to record a voice memo that you can play back at any time. You can add a voice memo to a photo as a short reminder of shooting conditions.

You will get the best sound quality when recording 16 in (40 cm) away from the camera.

Recording a voice memo

1 In Shooting mode, select f “ “ . (In some modes, select f “ > (once or twice) “ “ .)

2 Press [Shutter] to record.

Select to pause and to resume.

Once recording begins, the available recording time displayed at the top of the screen will be changed to reflect the file number.

You can record voice memos of up to 10 hours in length.

Adding a voice memo to a photo

2 Align your subject in the frame, and then take a photo.

The camera begins to record a voice memo right after you take the photo.

3 Record a short voice memo (10 seconds maximum).

Press [Shutter] to stop recording a voice memo before the 10 seconds are up.

You cannot add voice memos to photos in the burst mode.
