Diaframma

Il diaframma è un foro attraverso cui la luce entra nella fotocamera. La sede del diaframma contiene sottili placche di metallo che si aprono e si chiudono, allargando e restringendo il diaframma e controllando la quantità di luce che entra nella fotocamera. La dimensione del diaframma è strettamente correlata alla luminosità della foto: maggiore è il diaframma, più luminosa è la foto; minore è il diaframma, più scura è la foto. Maggiore è il valore del diaframma, minore sarà la dimensione dell'apertura. Ad esempio, un'apertura impostata su 5.6 è maggiore di una impostata su 11.

Tempo di posa

Il tempo di posa, che è un fattore importante per la luminosità di una foto, si riferisce al tempo necessario per aprire e chiudere l'otturatore. Un tempo di posa più lento consente l'ingresso di una maggiore quantità di luce. A parità di condizioni, le foto sono più luminose, ma gli oggetti in movimento tendono a sfocarsi. Al contrario, un tempo di posa più veloce riduce il tempo per l'ingresso della luce. Le foto sono più scure, ma gli oggetti in movimento appaiono più nitidi.
