ifyou increase the speed, the incline will automati-
cally decrease; ifyou decrease the speed, the in-
cline will automatically increase. If you increase the
incline, the speed willautomatically decrease; if you
decrease the incline, the speed willautomatically in-
crease. The console will always attempt to keep
your pulse neara predetermined setting. When the
incline reaches the highestsetting, the speed can-
not be decreased any further. When the incline
reaches the lowestsetting, the speed cannot be in-
creased any further.
Note: To terminatethe program beforethe program is
completed, pressthe STOP button.

Step onto the foot rails, stopthe walkingbelt, and re-
movethe key fromthe console. Store the key in a
secure place. In addition, movethe on/oft switch to
the=off" position. (See the drawing nearthe bottom
of page t 0.)
The FITNESS TEST program is designedto measure
your relative fitness level. Forthe best results,the
FITNESS TEST should betaken at a timewhen your
energy level ishigh. The FITNESS TEST shouldnot be
taken if you have already exercised duringthe day.
The FITNESS TEST programconsists of seven 4-
minute periods, and is followed by a 2-minute cool-
down period. The speed and/or incline of thetreadmill
willautomatically increase at the beginning of each 4-
minute period.
To use the FITNESS TEST program, followthe steps
below.

to verify the weight setting.

After you have completed step 3, the letters"AGE"
willflash in the PULSE display.To enter your age,
see step4 on page 11. If you have already entered
yourage, you must press one of the AGE buttonsto
verifythe age setting.
