Security settings

Assigning a Password

In the first step of the setup you can assign a Password for the user interface. When supplied, the configuration of your Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable is not protected with a Password. To prevent unauthorised changes to the configuration, you should set a Password and change this Password from time to time.

ìIf you have already set a Password, enter the old Password in the Current password field.

ìEnter a new password in the New password field, and repeat it in the Confirm new password field.

The Password can be up to 32 alphanumerical characters long. The SSID is case sen- sitive. Avoid proper names and all too obvious words. Mix letters and numbers together.

Please remember:

If you ever forget your Password you will have to reset your Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable (see page 17). Please bear in mind that this will restore all the settings to the factory configuration. No Password will be active either.
