Notes on speaker system hookup

Twist the stripped ends of the speaker cables about 10 mm. Be sure to match the speaker cable to the appropriate terminal on the components: + to + and – to –. If the cables are reversed, the sound will be distorted and will lack bass.

If you use speakers with low maximum input rating, adjust the volume carefully to avoid excessive output on the speakers.

To avoid short-circuiting the speaker

cables

A short-circuiting in the speaker cables will mute the speakers, and may even damage the receiver. To prevent this, make sure to take the following precautions when connecting the speakers.

Make sure the stripped ends of each speaker cable do not touch another speaker terminal or the stripped end of another speaker cable.

Examples of poor conditions of the speaker cable

Stripped speaker cable is touching another speaker terminal.

Stripped cables are touching each other due to excessive removal of insulation.
