Chapter 3: Getting the Voice Mail System Up and Running

Protegé® System Equipment Requirements:

Check the Installation and Maintenance Manual of the Protegé system you are installing to see that you have all of the equipment required. Plus, it contains the installation information needed to install the system.

An analog station port from the phone system will be needed for each

Voice Mail port.

Note: On the Protegé 3x8 and CTX systems, this will be an Analog Adapter. On the MTX and LTX, the analog port may be from an analog station card or Analog Adapter.

Sprint® Digital Voice Equipment Requirements:

Sprint Digital Voice cabinet (see Figures 1 and 2)

Sprint Digital Voice AC power adapter, AC outlet (120V, 60Hz)

Modular line cord(s) (2-wire or 4-wire)

RJ11 Jack.

Laptop computer (optional). Sprint Digital Voice is configured to work with any of the phone systems in the Protegé family. Upon the completion of the installation, the unit is operational. To change or modify the default settings, such as mailbox numbering or providing advanced programming options and diagnostics, a laptop is required.

Each Sprint Digital Voice DVP – 203 or DVP – 403 should be unpacked and inspected:

Remove the DVP – 203 or DVP – 403 from its packaging and place it on a level surface.

Check that all components are included in the package. These include One (1) voice mail unit

Two (2) mounting screws with flange standoffs Two (2) wall anchors for drywall installation

One (1) 120VAC 60Hz Power Supply with six foot cord One (1) Wall-Mounting Template and Instructions
