NPlace your saw on the ground. Make sure you have a firm footing – check that the chain is not touching any object or the ground.
NHold the saw firmly with your right hand on the top handle.
NRest your right knee on the carburetor box cover.
Cranking
NPull the starter grip slowly with your right hand until you feel it engage – and then give it a brisk strong pull and push down the control handle at the same time. Do not pull out the starter rope to full length – it might otherwise break. Do not let the

NPress the fuel pump bulb at least nine times – even if the bulb is already filled with fuel.

NPush the hand guard (1) forward – the chain is locked.
NPress down the trigger lockout (2) and pull the throttle trigger (3) at the same time. Set Master Control lever (4) to starting throttle position (n).
NSet choke lever to required position.
