Accessing the Drive Bays

SCSI Drives: Because of their hotswap capability, you do not need to ac- cess the inside of the chassis or power down the system to install or replace SCSI drives. Proceed to the next step for instructions.

CD-ROM/Floppy Disk Drives: For installing/removing a CD-ROM or floppy disk drive, you will need to gain access to the inside of the 6014H-8/6014H-82/ 6014H-X8 by removing the top cover of the chassis. Proceed to the "CD- ROM and Floppy Drive Installation" section later in this chapter for instruc- tions.

Note: Only a "slim" CD-ROM drive and a "slim" floppy drive will fit into the 6014H-8/6014H-82/6014H-X8.

Removing the Top Chassis Cover

First, release the retention screws that secure the server unit to the rack. Grasp the two handles on either side and pull the unit straight out until it locks (you will hear a "click"). Next, depress the two buttons on the top of the chassis to release the top cover and at the same time, push the cover away from you until it stops. You can then lift the top cover from the chassis to gain full access to the inside of the server.
