RAID Confi gurations
The following type s of RAID confi gurations are suppor ted:
RAID 0 (Data Striping): this writes data in parallel, interleaved ("striped" ) sections
of two hard drives. Data transfer rate is doubled over using a single disk.
RAID 1 (Data M irroring): an identical data im age from one drive is copied to anoth -
er drive. The second dr ive must be the same size or larger than the fi rst drive.
RAID 10 (Strip ing & Mirroring): R AID 0 and 1 scheme s are combined (with out
parity informatio n) to get the benefi ts of both.
RAID 5: both data and parity information are striped and mirrored across three
or more hard drives.
Intel Matrix Storage
The Intel Matrix Stor age, supported by the ICH9R, a llows the user to create RAID
0 and RAID1 set by using only t wo identical hard disk dr ives. The Intel Matrix
Storage Technology creates tw o partitions on each ha rd disk drive and generate
a virtual RA ID0 and RAID1 sets. It also allows you the ch ange the HDD partition
size without any data.
Confi guri ng BIOS setting s for SATA RAID Functions (Nati ve Mode)
1. Press the <Del> key duri ng system bootup to enter the BIO S Setup Utility.
Note: If it is the fi rst time powering on the system, we recommend yo u load the
Optimized Default Settings. If you have already done so, please skip to Step 3.
2. Use the arrow keys to selec t the "Exit" S ettings. Once in the " Exit" sett ings,
Scroll down to select " Load Optimized Defaul t Settings" and press th e <Enter>
key. Select "OK" to confi rm the selection. Press the <Ente r> key to load the default
settings for the BIOS.
3. Use the arrow keys to selec t the "Main" sectio n in BIOS.
4. Scroll down to "SATA Control Mode" and pr ess the <Enter> key to sele ct
"Enhanced"
5. Scroll down to "SATA RAID Enabled" and press <Enter>. Then, select "En-
abled." 6. Scroll down to "E xit". Select "Exit Saving Cha nges" from the "Exit" m enu.
Press the <Enter> key to s ave the changes and exit the BIO S.
7. Once you've exited the BIOS Utility, the system will re-boot.
8. During the system boot -up, press the <Ct rl> and <I > keys simultaneously to
run the Intel RAID C onfi gurati on Utility when prompted by the following mes sage:
Press <Ctrl > <I> for Intel RAID Confi guration Utility.
