2-4 Installing and Removing the Memory Modules

CAUTION

Exercise extreme care when installing or removing DIMM
modules to prevent any possible da mage.
To Ins t a ll: Inser t mo dule ve r tic ally a nd pre ss do wn unt il it sna ps into
place. Pay attention to the al ignm ent not ch at th e bot tom.
To Remove:
Use your thumbs
to gently push the
release tabs near both
ends of the module.
This should release it
from the slot.
Press down the release tabs
Insert & press down a
DIMM module into the slot

Installing & Removing DIMMs

Insert the desired number of DIMMs into the memory 1.
slots, starting with DIMM1A. When populating multiple
DIMM modules within a channel, always start with
blue slot fi rst. (For best performance, please use the
memory modules of the same type and same speed
in the same bank.)
Press down the release tabs on the ends of a 2.
memory slot. Insert each DIMM module vertically into
its slot. Pay attention to the notch along the bottom
of the module to prevent inserting the DIMM module
incorrectly.
Gently press down on the DIMM module until it snaps 3.
into place in the slot. Repeat for all modules.
Reverse the steps above to remove the DIMM mod-4.
