Chapter 3 Troubleshooting

3-1 Troubleshooting Procedures

Use the following procedu res to troubleshoot your system. If you have followed all
of the procedures below and s ti ll n ee d as s is t an c e, ref er t o th e ‘ Technic a l Sup p or t
Procedures’ and/or ‘Returning M e rc h a nd is e f or S e r vice’ section(s) in this chapter.
Always disconnect the AC power c ord before addi ng, changing o r installin g any
hardware components.

Before Power On

1. Make sure that the Standby PWR LED (LE1) is not lit. (Note: If LE1 is on, the
onboard power is on. Be sure to unplug th e power c able be fore ins talli ng or
removing the components.)
2. Make sure that there are no shor t ci rc uit s bet we en t he mot he rb oa rd an d cha s -
sis.
3. Disconnect all ribb on/wire cables fro m the motherboard, includ ing those for the
keyboard and mouse. Also, be sure to remove all add-on cards.
4. Install a CPU and heatsink (be sure that i t is f u ll y se ated) an d t he n c o nn ec t t he
chassis speaker and the power LED to th e motherbo ard. Check all ju mper
settings as well.

No Power

1. Make sure that there are no short cir cui ts bet ween the motherboard and c has -
sis.
2. Make sure that all jumpers are set to th eir defau lt posi tions.
3. Check if the 115V/230V switch on the power supply i s prope rly set .
4. Turn the power switch on and off to test the system .
5. The battery on your mothe rboard may be o ld. Check to m ake sure that it sti ll
supplies ~3VDC. If it does not, replace it with a new one.

No Video

1. If the power is on, but you have no video- -in this case, you will need t o re move
all the add-on cards and c able s rst.
