Note: If, after performing these checks, the terminal is still not reading symbols, contact your distributor or Symbol Technologies.
Your PPT 2700 is not dialing out. Remove the terminal from the cradle. The modem will not work
if the terminal is actively connected to the desktop computer.
Ensure the modem is connected to the terminal and the telephone
jack.
Ensure Hayes Compatible Modem on COM1 is selected.
Select Start, then Settings, and select the Connections tab. Tap
Modem, select your connection and tap Next twice. Make sure
Wait for dial tone before dialing is selected.
Your PPT 2700 is dialing but not
connecting.
Ensure the network you are calling supports Point-to-Point
Protocol (PPP) Ask your networking administrator.
Ensure the location is correct. Select Start, then Settings, and
select the Connections tab. Tap Modem. On the Dialing tab,
check Location. Tap Dialing Patterns to make sure the correct
numbers are being dialed.
Verify you are dialing the right number. Select Start, then
Settings, and select the Connections tab. Tap Modem. Tap the
connection, then Next and check the phone number.
Disable call waiting. Select Start, then Settings, and select the
Connections tab. Tap Modem. On the Dialing tab, select Disable
call waiting, and enter the disable code obtained from your
telephone company.
