Installation
The sampling modules fit into the front panel of the main instrument. Figure 3
shows the front panel of a DSA8200 and the locations of the sampling-module
compartments.

At least one samplingmodule must be installed in an instrument to sample
signals.
NOTE. Installing a large module in the left-most slot disables the left-most small
module compartment. Installing a largemodule in the right-most slot disables
the small module compartment that is second from the left.
Each instrument supports fourlarge-compartment channels, two per sampling
module, and eight small-compartmentchannels, two per sampling module. Eight
of the ten channels areusable at one time.
Toprevent electrostatic damage to the main instrument and sampling modules,
follow the precautions described in this manual and the manuals that come with
your instrument.
Circuitry in the samplingmodule is very susceptible to damage from electrostat-
ic dischargeor from overdrive signals. Be sure to only operate the sampling
module in a static-controlledenvironment. Be sure to discharge to ground any
electrostatic charge that may be present on th e center and outer connectors of
cables beforeattaching the cable to the sampling module.
