Cleaning the
connector
threads
1. Usecom pressedai ror nit rogent o loosen particles on
the connector mating plane surfaces. See the preceding
Precautions.
2. Toremove dirt or stubborn contaminants on a connector
that cannot be cleaned with compressed air or nitrogen,
apply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to a lint-free
cleaning swap. A standard foam-tipped swap is
recommended.
3. Clean the connector threads.
4. After the alcohol evaporates, blow the threads dry using
low--pressurecompressed air or nitrogen. Make sure the
threadsare compl etely dry before you reassemble it.
Cleaning the
mating plane
surfaces
1. Using a small amount of isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free
cleaning swap, clean the mating surfaces of the center
andout er conductors.
2. After the alcohol evaporates, blow the mating surfaces
dryusing l ow-pressurecompressed air or nitrogen.
Make suret he connector is completely dry before you
reassembleit.
Inspecting the
connector
1. Inspect the connector to make sure it is residue free.
2. Refert o Visual Inspection on page 38 for more
information.
