Electromagnetic fields generated by other radios, AC power, arc welders or…, well you get the idea, can also have a negative affect on your wireless communications system. Avoid placing antennas near any device that has a strong electromagnetic field associated with it. Also, do not route antenna cables in the same runs as high voltage AC lines. Whenever possible, try to keep antenna cables by themselves. The thing to remember is the RF signal at the receive antenna of a typical wireless intercom system can be less than 0.5V, that’s 0.0000005 of a volt! It does not take much to disrupt such a small signal and anything we can do in the installation process to prevent that disruption is time well spent.
