1.3 What is common interface?Somebroadcasts are scrambled so that only paid
subscriberscan enjoy them. Scrambledservices
can only be viewed with a Conditional Access
Module(CAM) and a subscription card belong-
ingwith the scrambling system.
Common Interface (CI) is the slot on a digitial
receiverinto which a conditional access module
maybe insterted. Thefront of the digital receiver
hastwo common interfaces.
Towatch a pay service, you should take the following steps:
1.
Purchasea conditional access module and a subscription
cardfor the pay service you want to watch.
2.
Insert the subscription cardinto the conditional access
module.
3.
Insertthe conditional access module into a common in-
terfaceon the front of the digital receiver.
