Multiuser Operation

B064-Series KVM Switches are designed to allow multiple users to access connected computers/servers simultaneously.

The B064-032-02-IPG and B064-016-02-IPG are designed with 3 buses, which support 1 local user and 2 simultaneous remote users. When multiple users are logging on at the same time, the 1st, 3rd, 5th, etc. users to log in are all on the first bus. The 2nd, 4th, 6th, etc. users to log in are all on the second bus. The rules for multi-user operation in the table that follows this section apply to all users who are on the same bus.

The B064-032-04-IPG and B064-016-04-IPG are designed with 5 buses, which support 1 local user and 4 simultaneous remote users. When multiple users are logged on at the same time, the 1st, 5th, 9th, etc. users are all on the first bus. The 2nd, 6th, 10th, etc. users are all on the second bus. The 3rd, 7th, 11th, etc. users are all on the third bus. The 4th, 8th, 12th, etc. users are all on the fourth bus. The rules for multi-user operation in the table that follows this section apply to all users who are on the same bus.

Rules for Multi-Users on the Same Bus

 

 

Auto Scan Mode

When Auto Scan mode is started, all users on that bus will go into Auto Scan mode. If a user on the same bus is in the

 

OSD, they will not go into Auto Scan mode until they access one of the ports.

 

Auto Scan mode can be stopped by any user by opening the OSD. When this occurs, all other users on the bus are

 

switched to the port that last held the KVM’s focus during Auto Scan mode.

Panel Array Mode

When Panel Array mode is invoked, all users on that bus will go into Panel Array mode. If a user on the same bus is

 

in the OSD, they will not go into Panel Array mode until they access one of the ports. Panel Array mode can only be

 

overridden by Super Administrators and Administrators.

 

Only the user who starts Panel Array mode can use the skip icons in the Panel Array Toolbar

 

Only the user who starts Panel Array mode can switch ports. When switching to another port, all users on the bus are

 

switched to the same port. If a user does not have access to the port, they will be unable to view it.

 

Individual users can increase/decrease the number of panels they can see in Panel Array mode; however, the picture

 

quality may get worse as the number of panels is decreased. For this reason, it is recommended that the user who

 

starts Panel Array mode set it to display at least four panels.

 

 

Auto Scanning

The Auto Scan function automatically switches among all accessible ports at regular intervals, so that the user can monitor their activity without having to manually switch between ports. The ports that are accessed in Auto Scan mode can be further filtered via the Filter section of the Port Access page. (See Filter section under Connections in OSD Operation for details.)

Setting the Scan Interval

The scan interval used during Auto Scan mode can be set in the User Settings menu. (See User Preferences section under OSD Operation for details.) The scan interval can be set from 1 to 255 seconds. The default is 5 seconds.

Invoking Auto Scan

Auto Scan Mode can be invoked when in the OSD or when in a remote session. When in the OSD, Auto Scan mode can be invoked by clicking on the Auto Scan button in the lower-left corner of the Port Access section. When in a remote session, Auto Scan Mode can be invoked by opening the OSD toolbar and tapping the A key. Once started, Auto Scan cycles through the ports in order, starting with the first accessible port on the installation. During Auto Scan Mode, an S appears in front of the Port ID Display to indicate that the port is being accessed under Auto Scan Mode.

Pausing Auto Scan

Auto Scan Mode can be paused in order to keep the focus on a particular computer by pressing P during an Auto Scan. When paused, the S that displays in front of the Port ID blinks On and Off. Pausing when you want to keep the focus on a particular computer can be more convenient than exiting Auto Scan Mode because when you resume scanning, you start from where you left off. If you were to exit and then restart Auto Scan Mode, the scanning would start over from the very first computer on the installation. To resume Auto Scan Mode after pausing, press any key except [Esc] or the [Spacebar], which will exit Auto Scan Mode completely.

Exiting Auto Scan

While Auto Scan Mode is in effect, ordinary keyboard functions are suspended. You must exit Auto Scan Mode in order to regain normal control of the keyboard. To exit Auto Scan Mode press [Esc] or the [Spacebar]..
