1Select the desired program from the Training menu.
A list of programs is provided on page 81. You can also view the programmed
content of the presets within the included software, making it easier to see and
understand the segments and the intervals/targets for the exercise.
2Make sure the pulse sensor is properly attached (page 20).
When it is properly attached, the LED will start flashing in time with your heart
rate.
3From the menu, select “Start,” then start running or walking with

the tempo of the song that plays.

As you exercise, the program number and the segment number is shown at
the top of the display. A song of the appropriate tempo is automatically
selected from all songs currently on the BF-1.
h
If you want to specify a certain Playlist for song selection, select “View/Edit” here, and then
select “OK” at the bottom. The Select Music display appears.

WARNING

In the Training mode, the device plays back songs that follow the pace of the program,
and naturally you should try to match this pace. However, if you find the pace too
strenuous, do not force yourself to keep pace. Lower the pace accordingly (page 44) or
stop the exercise.
n
If the pulse sensor is not attached properly or accidentally slips off, a “Measurement Error!”
message appears. Reattach the ear sensor properly and continue your exercise session.
h
If you find it difficult to match your steps to the song tempo, turn the Tempo Guide function on
(page 62).
n
For audio song playback, the song tempo which is analyzed by the BODiBEAT Station software
may differ from the actual tempo depending on the song characteristics. In this case, you can
manually correct the tempo information with the BODiBEAT Station. For details, refer to the
BODiBEAT Station Owner’s Manual.
4While you’re running or walking, you can change the volume of the

music and select different songs.

You can also lock the pace or change it to a different tempo. (See “Operation
During Exercise” on page 42.)
