No sound is output when wave data is played

If the wave data is being played with standard Windows wave playback software (such as the Sound Recorder), the wave data is output to the destination speci- fied in the multimedia properties (audio) dialog.

However, out of the devices that can be seen on the “Preferred device” drop- down list, only the first eight devices down from the top can be specified. If any device below the eighth device is specified, the first device on the list will actu- ally be used as the output device.

If more than eight devices are displayed on the drop-down list, with a combina- tion of output devices something like “Another Sound Card,”“DS2416” and “SW1000XG,” and “Another Sound Card” is displayed as the first device on the list, specifying the eighth device of the DS2416 will cause the sound to be played from the “Another Sound Card” device.

Sound output from DOS games is strange

• SW1000XG is not guaranteed to work with DOS games played in Windows95.

The SW1000XG Mixer controls do not work

Are the ports correctly specified in the Setup dialog? If the SW1000XG sound card is being used,“SW1000 #1 (or #2) Synthesizer” must be selected (P. 34).

SW1000XG mixer controls for even-numbered audio parts (such as A2, P2, P4) do not work.

Are the corresponding odd-numbered parts (such as A1, P1, P3) set for stereo mode? In other words, is Stereo set in the Mono/Stereo Mode selection in the XGworks XG Editor (in the properties dialog opened by clicking the [Detail] but- ton for the Audio Part Unit). If Stereo Mode is set here, only the odd-number parts can be controlled.

SW1000XG does not operate

Is the SW1000XG card correctly installed in the PCI bus slot?

In older computer types, the PCI slot cannot function as the bus master. Even if SW1000XG is installed in such a slot, it will not operate correctly. See the Owner’s Manual that came with your computer for details.

There may be a conflict between the SW1000XG and another PCI card. If this happens, either remove the conflicting card, or try inserting the SW1000XG into the slot where the conflicting card has been inserted and vice versa. If a Windows95 version before OSR2 is being used, and the problem cannot be solved, change the IRQ setting or remove the conflicting card.
