Power won’t turn on, panel LEDs or
LCD won’t light
Are the LCD contrast and panel brightness set appropriately?
Is the POWER switch turned on?
If the power still does not turn on, contact a Yamaha service center listed at the
end of the manual.
Sound is not input
Is the optional I/O card inserted correctly? (see page18)
Is the signal from the external device being input?
Is the input port patched to an input channel? (see page29)
Is the GAIN set to an appropriate level? (see page32)
Is the EQ attenuator raised? (see page 35)
Is an insert turned on even though it is not assigned correctly?
Is the input channel’s [ON] key indicator lit?
Is the input channel’s fader raised?
Sound is not output
Is the optional I/O card inserted correctly? (see page18)
Is the STEREO channel’s [ON] key indicator lit?
Is the output channel patched to an output port? (see page 31)
Sound is not output from
headphones or MONITOR OUT jacks Is the [PHONES] knob or [LEVEL] knob set to an appropriate volume?
Insufficient volume
Is the GAIN set to an appropriate level? (see page32)
Is the input channel’s fader raised?
Could the EQ gain be lowered excessively? (see page 35)
Could the GATE/COMP threshold or ratio be set to an excessive value? (see
page37)
Is the EQ attenuator raised? (see page 35)
Is the output channel’s fader raised?
Check the levels in each screen of the METER function. (see page23)
Sound is distorted
Is the wordclock set correctly? (see page 27)
Is the GAIN set to an appropriate level? (see page32)
Could the input channel’s fader be raised excessively?
Could the STEREO channel’s fader be raised excessively?
Could the EQ or COMP gain be raised excessively?
(see pages 35–37)
Sound is output even though not
patched to an output channel
Could the input channel be set to direct out? (see page33)
Could insert out be assigned to the output channel?
Operating a fader does not change
the level as expected Are the correct channels selected in the LAYER section?
Only a specific channel is heard from
the MONITOR OUT or PHONES jack Could the [CUE] key be on?
Noise is present in an externally
connected recorder or device
Is the wordclock set correctly? (see page 27)
Could an unsynchronized signal be input?
Is the oscillator turned on? (see page45)
High-frequency range is lacking
Could emphasis be applied? This will occur if the state of the input signal does
not match the emphasis data.
Could EQ be applied? (see page 35)
An input signal is being input, but
there’s no monitor output
Could DIMMER be applied?
Is the routing appropriate for the signal you want to monitor?
Headroom is restricted, particularly
when EQ boost is applied Use the EQ’s attenuator to reduce the level. (see page35)
Signal is delayed Check whether the delay of each channel is set correctly.
Can’t save scene memories or library
data
Could you be attempting to save a read-only scene/library memory, or a pro-
tected scene? (see page42)
Can’t transmit/receive MIDI data
Is the MIDI PORT selected correctly?
Are the MODE and channel selected correctly on the transmitting and receiving
devices?
Have you assigned an event to the program change?
When a scene is recalled, some
channels/parameters do not update Could recall safe be specified for those channels/parameters?
When a scene is recalled, it takes time
for the faders to stop Could a fade time have been specified?
