Onboard Serial Port2

This option enables serial port 2 on the motherboard and specifies the base I/O port address for serial port 2. The settings are Auto. Disabled, 3F8h, 2F8h, 3E8h, 2E8h. The Fail-Safe default setting is Auto.

Onboard Parallel Port

This option enables the parallel port on the motherboard and specifies the parallel port base I/O port address. The settings are Auto, disabled, 378, 378, 3BC. The Fail-Safe default setting is Auto.

Parallel Port Mode

This option specifies the parallel port mode. ECP and Epp are both bidirectional data transfer sechemes that adhere to the IEEE P1284 specification. The settings are:

Setting

Description

Normal

The normal parallel port mode is used. This is the

default setting.

EPP

The parallel port can be used with devices that

adhere to the Enhanced Parallel Port (EPP) specifi-

cation. EPP uses the exiting parallel port signals to

provide asymmetric bidirectional data transfer

driven by the host device.

ECP

The parallel port can be used with devices that

adhere to the Extended Capabilities Port (ECP)

specification. ECP uses the DMA protocol to

achieve transfer rates of approximately 2.5 Mbs.

ECP provides symmetric bidirectional communla-

tions.
