Controlling VCRs which have the COMMAND MODE selector

To control a VCR with the remote commander, set the COMMAND MODE selectors on the remote commander and the VCR to the same position. The COMMAND MODE*1 selectors on both the unit and remote commanders are factory set to VTR3. Be sure to set the COMMAND MODE selector on each VCR to a different position to operate each VCR independently.

If the COMMAND MODE selector on a VCR is set to OFF, you cannot control that VCR with the remote commander.

If the COMMAND MODE selector on this unit is set to OFF, although you cannot control the unit‘s VCR with the remote commander, MASTER VOL +/–, MUTING, and the function buttons on the remote commander can operate the unit.

*1 The selector’s name on the unit is VTR COMMAND MODE, however, it is described as COMMAND MODE in these Operating Instructions for the sake of convenience.

Controlling a VCR which doesn’t have a COMMAND MODE selector

If a VCR has no COMMAND MODE selector, set COMMAND MODE on the remote commander in the following way.

If you have another VHS format VCR, set COMMAND MODE on the unit to VTR1 or VTR2.

Turning on and controlling the unit’s VCR

1Set COMMAND MODE on the remote commander to the same position as COMMAND MODE on the unit.

2Press VHS TUNER.

If the TV doesn’t turn on, turn it on manually.

Press VHS TUNER again if connected with a EURO-AV (Scart) cable.

If connected with a EURO-AV (Scart) cable, the TV is automatically set to VCR reception.

If connected with only the antenna cable, set the TV to the VCR’s programme position manually.
