Source lamps on
the front panel
For selecting DVD MULTI playback mode as the source:
Press DVD MULTI/2CH so that “DVD MULTI” appears on the display.
Each time you press the button, the DVD MULTI playback mode turns on and off, and the “DVD” and “DVD MULTI” alternately appears on the display.
• Select “DVD” when you play back a disc in stereo or the audio output setting of the DVD player is mixed to two front channels.
• Select “DVD MULTI” when you play back a disc on the DVD player with its analog
discrete output mode (5.1 CH reproduction) selected. To enjoy the DVD MULTI playback mode, see page 49.

Basic Operations

The following operations are commonly used when you play any sound source.

IMPORTANT:

When using the Remote Control, check to see if its remote control AUDIO/TV mode selector is set to the correct position:

/VCR

To operate an audio system, TV, and VCR, set it to “AUDIO/TV/

CATV VCR.”

/DBS

To operate a CATV converter and DBS tuner, set it to “CATV/

DBS.”

Turning the Power On and Off (Standby)

On the front panel:

To turn on the power, press STANDBY/ON .

The STANDBY lamp goes off. The name of the current source (or station frequency) appears on the display.

Selecting the Source to Play

amount of power is consumed in standby mode. To turn the power off completely, press the POWER switch to set it in the ÑOFF position on the front panel.

On the front panel:

Turn SOURCE SELECTOR until the source name you want appears on the display.

As you turn the selector, the source changes as follows:

CDPHONO TAPE/MD FMAM

VCR TV SOUND/DBS DVD/DVD MULTI

The selected source lamp also lights up.
