Basic Recording

Turn on the unit.

Turn on the TV and select the video channel (or AV mode).

Slide the TV/CABLE/DBS/DVD switch to DVD.

Slide the TV/CABLE/DBS/DVD switch to DVD.

Press VCR/DVD repeatedly so that the VCR lamp lights up on the unit.

1 Load a cassette with the record safety tab intact. If not, set “REC SAFETY” to “OFF” ( pg. 73).

The unit’s power comes on automatically and the counter is reset to 0:00:00.

2 Press VCR/DVD repeatedly so that the VCR lamp lights up on the unit.

3 Press CH +/– or the number keys to select the channel you wish to record.

4 Press REC MODE repeatedly to set the recording mode.

5 Press 7 on the unit to start recording. Or while holding 7, press 4 on the remote control.

The VCR recording lamp lights up on the unit.

Video Calibration takes place at the beginning of both the first SP and the first EP recording after inserting the cassette.

6 Press 9 to pause recording.

You can select channel during the Record Pause mode.

To resume recording, press 4.

7 Press 8 to stop recording.

The VCR recording lamp lights off on the unit.

Recording Resume Function

If there is a power outage during recording or timer recording

( pg. 46, 48, 49), the recording will resume automatically when power is restored to the unit unless the unit’s memory backup has expired.

Watch Another Program While Recording On The Unit

While recording is going on, you can watch another program on the TV by using the TV’s tuner.

NOTE:

It is required that the remote control is set to be able to operate the TV in advance. ( pg. 66)

1 During recording, press TV/VCR to select TV mode if your unit is connected to the TV via the RF connection.

VCR mode is disengaged, then the VIDEO indicator lights off and “TV” appears on the front display panel.

The program received on the TV’s tuner is displayed on the TV screen.

2Slide the TV/CABLE/DBS/DVD switch to TV.

3Press CH +/– repeatedly to select the desired channel.

Accidental erasure prevention To prevent accidental recording on a recorded cassette, remove its safety tab and set “REC SAFETY” to “ON” ( pg. 73).

To record on it later, cover the hole with adhesive tape or set “REC SAFETY” to “OFF”.
