Setting the clock

Clock Setting

1 In stop mode, press [SET UP].

“Easy Setting Menu” or “Advanced Setting Menu” will appear.

2 Select “Clock” using [Cursor U / D], then press [ENTER].

3 If you select “Advanced Setting Menu,” proceed to step 4.

If you select “Easy Setting Menu,” proceed to step 5.

4 Press [ENTER].

5 Press [ENTER] again.

The default date will appear.

6 Enter the date (day / month / year) using [Cursor U / D], then press [Cursor P].

Press [Cursor P] to move the cursor to the next field. If you wish to go back to the previous field, press [Cursor L].

7 Enter the time (hours / minutes) using [Cursor U / D], then press [ENTER].

The clock will start.

Although seconds are not displayed, they will be counted from zero.

8 Press [SET UP] to exit.

Note

Your clock setting will be lost if either there is a power failure or the unit is unplugged for more than 30 seconds.

Selecting the TV aspect ratio

You can select the TV aspect ratio to match the format of the programme you are playing back with the unit and that of your TV screen (4:3 standard or 16:9 wide screen TV).

1 In stop mode, press [SET UP].

2 Select “Advanced Setting Menu” using [Cursor U / D], then press [ENTER].

If it has already appeared, proceed to step 3.

3 Select “Playback” using

[Cursor U / D], then press [ENTER].

4 Select “TV Aspect” using

[Cursor U / D], then press [ENTER].

5 Select the desired option using [Cursor U / D], then press [ENTER].

6 Press [SET UP] to exit.

Hint

If you have a standard TV:

Select “4:3 Letter Box” for a full width picture with black bars at the top and bottom.

Select “4:3 Pan & Scan” for a full height picture with both sides trimmed.

If you have a wide screen TV:

• Select “16:9 Wide.”

This unit will automatically switch a compatible widescreen TV into widescreen mode when playing back the discs recorded in Video mode with this unit. To play back 4:3 recordings on a 16:9 TV, please select 4:3 mode on your TV.
