Sound settings

Setting the volume

Set the required volume level by pressing

the ￿￿buttons on the remote control of the receiver. A bar indicator is displayed

on the screen to show the set volume.

Stereo and two-channel sound reproduction

The channel identifier that you can display

by pressing the ￿buttonhowss the set sound reproduction. (Depending on the direction of the symbolised sound waves – under the displayed time – mono left, mono right or stereo can be set. The digit indicates the number of transmitted sound channels). The programme title is shown

in the box on the right. Press the ￿button toallc up the audio menu for sound and language selection. You can now make the required settings, e.g. language selection, provided the corresponding data are contained in the reception signal (sound track), Dolby Digital (5.1 CH). Select the menu points by pressing the

￿￿buttons and select the required setting with the ￿￿buttons. Press the ￿button once again to exit the menu.

AC3

The receiver can process sound transmissions in AC3 format (Dolby Digital) providing you with the opportunity of listening to cinema sound quality in your living room. The digital sound output is provided for this purpose. You will need to con- nect it to a corresponding system.

Please refer to the instructions manual of your Dolby Digital system.

In order to reproduce the AC3 format, set your receiver in the audio menu under "stereo" to “2 of 2" or "2 of 2 (2ch)". The corresponding transmission – "5.1 Ch" (5 channels + 1 subwoofer channel) is then indicated at “Dig. output”.

If AC3 format is not transmitted, you will only be able to select the standard stereo or mono settings or select the broadcast language.

Mute

Press the ￿button on the remote control to mute the sound. This symbol ￿appears on the screen.

Press the ￿button again to restore the sound. The standard volume display bar is then shown for several seconds.

Although you can change the programme while in mute mode, it will remain muted until this mode is cancelled or you correct the volume.
