FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE
The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive.
When the manual mode of the console is selected, the speed and incline of the treadmill can be changed with the touch of a button. As you exercise, the console will display instant exercise feedback. You can even mea- sure your heart rate using the handgrip pulse sensor or the optional chest pulse sensor (see page 22).
In addition, the console offers ten preset programs. Each program automatically controls the speed and in- cline of the treadmill as it guides you through an effec- tive workout. Two heart rate programs are also offered. Each program automatically adjusts the speed and in- cline of the treadmill to keep your heart rate within a tar- get range while you exercise. The console even allows you to create your own programs and save them in memory for future use. Note: The heart rate programs require the use of the optional chest pulse sensor.
To use the manual mode of the console, follow the steps beginning on page 13. To use a preset pro- gram, see page 16. To create and use a custom program, see pages 18 and 19. To use a heart rate program, see page 20.
HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER
Note: If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the con- sole, remove the plastic. To prevent damage to the walking platform, always wear clean shoes while using the treadmill. The first time the treadmill is used, observe the alignment of the walking belt, and center the walking belt if necessary (see page 26).
Plug in the power cord (see page 11). Next, locate the reset/off circuit breaker on the treadmill frame near the power cord. Make sure that the circuit breaker is in the reset position.
Stand on the foot rails of the treadmill. Find the clip at- tached to the key (see the drawing above), and slide the clip onto the waistband of your clothes. Next, insert the key into the console. After a moment, the displays and various indicators will light. Important: In an emergency situation, the key can be pulled from the console, causing the walking belt to slow to a stop. Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward; if the key is not pulled from the console, adjust the position of the clip.
