You can switch the answering machine on and off using the base or the handset.

If you hear, “Answer on, your outgoing message is....”, the

answering machine is switched ON and is ready to answer incoming calls and record any messages (unless Answer Only is selected which is an advisory announcement only and does not allow messages to be recorded).

The display on the base unit shows the number of messages stored in the memory.

If you hear, “Answer off ”, the answering machine is switched OFF.

The display on the base unit will flash between a dash and the number of messages saved in the memory.
