Fax – sending

Problem	Cause & Remedy

I cannot send documents.	● The telephone line cord is connected to the EXT jack on
	the unit. Connect to the LINE jack (p. 12) (KX-FP181 only).
	● The other party’s fax machine is busy or has run out of
	recording paper. Try again.
	● The other party’s machine is not a facsimile. Check with
	the other party.
	● The other party’s fax machine rings too many times. Send
	a fax manually – dial the number, confirm the fax tone,
	then press FAX START .

The other party complains that	● If your line has special telephone services such as call
letters on their received	waiting, the service may have been activated during fax

	● The extension telephone on the same line is off the hook.
	Hang up the extension telephone and try again.

I cannot receive documents		● The receive mode is set to the TEL mode. Set to the FAX
automatically.		ONLY, TEL/FAX or TAD/FAX (KX-FP185/KX-FM189 only)
		mode (p. 38, 39).
		● The time taken to answer the call is too long. Decrease the
		number of rings of features #06 (p. 65), #30 (p. 67) and
		#78 (p. 71).
		● The greeting message is too long. Shorten the message
		(p. 54)(KX-FP185/KX-FM189 only).

The display shows the		● The incoming call is not a fax. Change the receive mode
following message but faxes		to the TEL or TAD/FAX (KX-FP185/KX-FM189 only) mode
