PAUSE button
A pause is sometimes required when making calls, for example using a PBX or long distance service. When storing a calling card access number and/or PIN in the phonebook, a pause is also needed (page 41).
For example, if you need to dial the line access number “9” when making outside calls with a PBX:
1{9} i{PAUSE} iDial the phone number.
2{TEL}
Note:
L A 3.5 second pause is inserted each time {PAUSE} is pressed. Press repeatedly to insert longer pauses.
Handset LCD backlight
The handset’s LCD backlight color changes as follows.
Color | Meaning |
Green | Landline is used. |
Amber | IP line is used. |
Answering calls
Using the handset N
When a call is being received, the ringer indicator on the handset flashes rapidly.
1To answer the landline call, press
{TALK}, {TEL}, or {s}.
To answer the Ainternet call, press {TALK}, {IP}, or {s}.
L You can also answer the call by pressing any dial key from {0} to {9}, {*}, or {#}. (Any key talk feature)
2When you finish talking, press
{OFF}.
Note:
L You can change the ringer indicator color and the ringer tone (page 51, 53). You can also adjust the handset ringer volume (page 51).
Auto talk
This feature allows you to answer a call by simply lifting the handset off the base unit or charger. You do not need to press {TALK}, {TEL}, or {IP}. To activate this feature, see page 50.
Temporary ringer off
While the handset is ringing for an outside call, you can turn the ringer off temporarily by pressing {~} or {OFF}.
Useful features during a call
HOLD button N
This feature allows you to put an outside call on hold.
Press {HOLD} 2 times during an outside call.
LTo release hold, press {TEL} or {IP}. L A user of another unit can take the call
by pressing {TEL} or {IP}.
Note:
LIf a call is kept on hold for more than 9 minutes, an alarm tone starts to sound and the ringer indicator flashes rapidly. After 1 additional minute on hold, the call is disconnected.
