The Tri-Color LED changes color to indicate radio status and is visible from both the front and top of the radio (see Figure 9-7). The colors of the LED and the status they represent are:

Green: Receiving

Red: Transmitting Unencrypted

Orange: Transmitting Encrypted

9.4STATUS MESSAGES

During radio operation, various radio Status Messages can be displayed. The messages are described below.

MESSAGE			NAME	DESCRIPTION
			Talkaround	Indicates the radio is operating on conventional channels in talkaround
TALKARND
				mode (no repeater).
			Low Battery	Battery voltage has dropped to the point to where the radio is no longer
LOW BATT
				able to transmit. The radio will still receive calls until the battery is
				discharged beyond the point of operation at which time the radio will
				automatically shutdown.
			Volume Level	Indicates the current volume level. The volume level display ranges
VOL=31
				from	OFF	(silent) to	40	(loudest).
