Maintenance

Service

!WARNING NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE, except for

the replaceable carbon brushes. Preventive maintenance performed by unauthorized personnel may result in misplacing of internal wires and components which could cause serious hazard. We recommend that all tool service be performed by a Bosch Factory Service Center or Authorized Bosch Service Station. SERVICEMEN: Disconnect tool and/or charger from power source before servicing.

BATTERIES

Be alert for battery packs that are nearing their end of life. If you notice decreased tool performance or significantly shorter running time between charges then it is time to replace the battery pack. Failure to do so can cause the tool to operate improperly or damage the charger.

TOOL LUBRICATION

Your Bosch tool has been properly lubricated and is ready for use.

D.C. MOTORS

The motor in your tool has been engineered for many hours of dependable service. To maintain peak efficiency of the motor, we recommend it be examined every six months. Only a genuine Bosch replacement motor specially designed for your tool should be used.

CARBON BRUSHES

The brushes and commutator in your tool have been engineered for many hours of dependable service.

If your tool runs sporadically, loses power, makes unusual noises or runs at a reduced speed, check the brushes. To continue using the tool in this condition will permanently damage your tool.

Check both brushes. Usually the brushes will not wear out simultaneously. If one brush is worn out, replace both brushes.

To check brushes: Disconnect battery pack from tool. Remove brush cover at the rear part of housing by loosening screws (Fig. 9).

Insert a screwdriver or similar object into the red notch of the carbon brush and lift out the brushes; note which way they face, so that the brushes can be returned to their original position. Clean the brush holder openings with compressed air or a clean cloth and replace the brushes and brush covers.

After replacing brushes the tool should be run at no-load and run it freely at full speed for 2 minutes before using the tool. This will allow the brushes to “seat” properly and will give you more hours of life from each set of brushes.

Only genuine Bosch replacement brushes specially designed for your tool should be used.

Cleaning

!WARNING To avoid accidents, always disconnect the tool and/or

charger from the power supply before cleaning. The tool may be cleaned most effectively with compressed dry air. Always wear safety goggles when cleaning tools with compressed air.

Ventilation openings and switch levers must be kept clean and free of foreign matter. Do not attempt to clean by inserting pointed objects through opening.

!Certain cleaning agents CAUTION and solvents damage

plastic parts. Some of these are: gasoline, carbon tetrachloride, chlorinated cleaning solvents, ammonia and household detergents that contain ammonia.

Bosch Power Tools is synonymous with innovation and reliability, and their series of cordless drills, including models 18636-02, 18636-01, 18636, and 18636-03, exemplify these attributes. Designed for both professional tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts, these models are engineered to deliver exceptional performance in a variety of applications.

One of the main features of these Bosch drills is their powerful motor that provides an impressive torque output. This ensures that users can tackle a wide range of tasks, from drilling through tough materials to driving screws with precision. The models are equipped with a two-speed transmission, allowing users to switch between high torque for heavy-duty tasks and high speed for quick drilling, enhancing versatility.

The cordless design is another significant characteristic. Powered by advanced lithium-ion batteries, these models offer increased run time and reduced charging time. This technology ensures that tools remain lightweight while providing consistent power, enabling users to work without interruptions. Depending on the model, the battery capacity varies but consistently provides ample performance for extended tasks.

Ergonomics is a key consideration in the design of the 18636 series. The tools come with rubberized grips that enhance comfort and reduce user fatigue during prolonged use. The balanced design of these drills adds to their ease of handling, making them suitable for both professional applications and home improvement projects.

In terms of durability, Bosch has incorporated robust materials in the construction of these drills. They are designed to withstand the rigors of job site use, featuring shock-resistant housings that protect internal components from damage. Additionally, some models include advanced electronics that enable features like electronic brake and overload protection, further enhancing longevity.

User-friendly features are prevalent in this lineup, including LED work lights that illuminate dark work areas, and keyless chuck systems that allow for fast and easy bit changes. The models also frequently feature a built-in battery life indicator, enabling users to monitor power levels and avoid unexpected downtime.

In conclusion, the Bosch Power Tools 18636-02, 18636-01, 18636, and 18636-03 represent a commitment to quality, performance, and user convenience. With their powerful motors, efficient battery technology, ergonomic design, and durable construction, these drills are apt for a multitude of tasks, making them valuable assets in any toolbox. These tools demonstrate Bosch’s dedication to delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet the needs of today's demanding work environments.
