Operating Instructions

VARIABLE SPEED CONTROLLED

TRIGGER SWITCH

Your tool is equipped with a variable speed trigger switch. The tool can be turned "ON" or "OFF" by squeezing or releasing the trigger. The speed can be adjusted from the minimum to maximum nameplate RPM by the pressure you apply to the trigger. Apply more pressure to increase the speed and release pressure to decrease speed (Fig. 1).

!WARNING To reduce the risk of injury immediately discontinue use

of the tool if the variable speed control ceases to function. Subsequent loss of on/off control of the trigger switch is likely.

FORWARD/REVERSING

LEVER & TRIGGER LOCK

!WARNING After tool use, lock trigger in “OFF” position to help prevent

accidental starts and accidental discharge.

Your tool is equipped with a forward/ reversing lever and trigger lock located above the trigger (Fig. 1). This lever was designed for changing rotation of the bit, and for locking the trigger in an “OFF” position.

For forward rotation, (with chuck pointed away from you) move the lever to the far left.

For reverse rotation move the lever to the far right. To activate trigger lock move lever to the center off position.

Do not change direction of

!

CAUTION

rotation until the tool

comes to a complete stop. Shifting during rotation of the chuck can cause damage to the tool.

GEAR SHIFTING

Your tool is equipped with two separate gear ranges, low gear and high gear. Low gear provides high-torque and slower drilling speeds for heavy duty work or for driving screws. High gear provides faster speeds for drilling lighter work. To change speeds slide switch, to the high or low position.

ATTENTION: If your tool appears to be running, but the chuck will not turn, check to make sure the gear shifting switch is pushed fully into desired setting.

ADJUSTABLE CLUTCH

Your tool features 15 clutch settings. Output torque will increase as the clutch ring, is

rotated from 1 to 15. The drill “ ” position will lock up the clutch to permit drilling and driving heavyduty work, and also enables bits to be changed quickly and easily in the keyless chuck (Fig. 2).

DRILL/HAMMER DRILL SELECTOR RING The selector ring allows the tool to be set for various drilling/hammer drilling applications. Rotate the selector dial right or left depending on the below applications (Fig. 3).

Drill only action: For drilling in woods, metals, plastics or other non concrete materials.

Drill with hammer action: For drilling in concrete, asphalt, tile or other similar hard materials.

The hammer drill position overrides the clutch for hammer drilling.

BRAKE

When the trigger switch is released it activates the brake to stop the chuck quickly. This is especially useful in the repetitive driving and removal of screws.

BIT STORAGE AREA

Your tool is equipped with a bit and storage area that is conveniently located in the handle base where it is always handy and unlikely to get lost or misplaced (Fig. 1).

Bosch Power Tools is synonymous with innovation and reliability, and their series of cordless drills, including models 18636-02, 18636-01, 18636, and 18636-03, exemplify these attributes. Designed for both professional tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts, these models are engineered to deliver exceptional performance in a variety of applications.

One of the main features of these Bosch drills is their powerful motor that provides an impressive torque output. This ensures that users can tackle a wide range of tasks, from drilling through tough materials to driving screws with precision. The models are equipped with a two-speed transmission, allowing users to switch between high torque for heavy-duty tasks and high speed for quick drilling, enhancing versatility.

The cordless design is another significant characteristic. Powered by advanced lithium-ion batteries, these models offer increased run time and reduced charging time. This technology ensures that tools remain lightweight while providing consistent power, enabling users to work without interruptions. Depending on the model, the battery capacity varies but consistently provides ample performance for extended tasks.

Ergonomics is a key consideration in the design of the 18636 series. The tools come with rubberized grips that enhance comfort and reduce user fatigue during prolonged use. The balanced design of these drills adds to their ease of handling, making them suitable for both professional applications and home improvement projects.

In terms of durability, Bosch has incorporated robust materials in the construction of these drills. They are designed to withstand the rigors of job site use, featuring shock-resistant housings that protect internal components from damage. Additionally, some models include advanced electronics that enable features like electronic brake and overload protection, further enhancing longevity.

User-friendly features are prevalent in this lineup, including LED work lights that illuminate dark work areas, and keyless chuck systems that allow for fast and easy bit changes. The models also frequently feature a built-in battery life indicator, enabling users to monitor power levels and avoid unexpected downtime.

In conclusion, the Bosch Power Tools 18636-02, 18636-01, 18636, and 18636-03 represent a commitment to quality, performance, and user convenience. With their powerful motors, efficient battery technology, ergonomic design, and durable construction, these drills are apt for a multitude of tasks, making them valuable assets in any toolbox. These tools demonstrate Bosch’s dedication to delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet the needs of today's demanding work environments.
