A.

This appliance has a pilot which must

 

be lighted b y hand . When lighting the

 

pilot, follow these instr uctions e xactly.

B.

BEFORE LIGHTING smell all

 

around the a ppliance ar ea for gas. Be

 

sure to smell ne xt to the floor because

 

some g as is hea vier than air and will

 

settle on the f loor.

 

WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS

 

• Do not try to light any appliance.

LIGHTING

INSTRUCTIONS

1.STOP! Read the saf ety information in column one.

2.Open lo wer panel.

3.Turn ON/OFF s witch to “OFF”.

4.Turn off all electr ic po wer to the fireplace .

5.Push in g as contr ol knob slightl y and

turn c lockwise to “OFF”.

6.Wait five (5) min utes to c lear out an y gas. Then smell f or g as, inc luding near the f loor. If y ou smell g as, STOP! Follow “B” in the saf ety in- formation in column one . If you don't smell gas, go to the next step.

7.The pilot is located by the main

burner and should not r equir e ac- cessing f or lighting .

Turn knob on g as contr ol counter -

 

clockwise

to “PILOT”.

9.

Push in contr ol knob all the w ay and

TO TURN OFF GAS

TO APPLIANCE

1.Open lo wer louv er panel.

2a. Set selector switch in the “OFF” position.

2b. If Using Optional Hand-Held Re- mote: Set selector switch in the OFF position to pr event dr aining ba ttery.

3.Turn off all electr ical po wer to the applianceifser viceistobeperf ormed .

4.Push in g as contr ol knob slightl y and

turn c lockwise to “OFF”.

5.Close lo wer panel.

Shutting Off Burners Only (pilot stays lit)

You may shut off the burners and keep the pilot lit by doing one of the following:

1.Turn contr ol knob c lockwise to the PILO T position.

2.SetselectorswitchintheOFFposition.

Do not touch any electric switch; do

 

not use an y phone in y our b uilding .

Immedia tely call y our g as supplier

from a neighbor's phone . Follow the gas supplier's instructions.

C. Use onl y your hand to push in or tur n

the gas contr ol knob . Never use tools.

hold. Immediately light the pilot by

repea tedl y de pressing the piez o

spark ignitor until a flame appears.

Continue to hold f or a bout one (1)

minute after the pilot is lit. Release

knob and it will pop back. Pilot

should r emain lit. If it g oes out, re-

peat steps 5 thr ough 8.

If the knob will not push in or tur n

by hand , don't tr y to repair it, call a qualified ser vice tec hnician. F orce or attempted r epair ma y result in a f ire or explosion.

D.Do not use this appliance if any part has been under w ater. Immedia tely call a qualif ied ser vice tec hnician to inspect the a ppliance and to r e- place an y par t of the contr ol sys- tem and an y gas contr ol whic h has been under w ater.

service technician or gas supplier.

 

• If the pilot will not sta y lit after se v-

 

eral tries, turn the g as contr ol knob

 

to “OFF” and call y our ser vice

 

technician or g as supplier .

10.

Turn gas contr ol counter clockwise

 

to “ON”.

11.

Turn on all electr ic po wer to the

 

fireplace .

12.

Turn the ON/OFF s witch to ON

 

position.

13.

This v alve is equipped with a HI/LO

 

feature. Set f ireplace input as desir ed.

14.

Close lo wer panel.

MANUAL LIGHTING

PROCEDURE

1.Remove glass door (see Removing/ Replacing Glass Door, page 16).

2.Follow steps 1 thr ough 8 under Light- ing Instructions.

3.Depress contr ol knob and light pilot with match.

4.Keep contr ol knob pr essed in f or 30 seconds after lighting pilot. After 30 seconds, release contr ol knob . Now follow steps 10 thr ough 14, column 2.

5. Replace glass door (see Removing/ Replacing Glass Door, page 16).
