Setting up

Carefully unpack the equipment and store the origin

The carton and packing materials have been speciall

designed for this series of equipment. They provide

a

safecontainerforthesystem,andyoumayneedthe

forsubsequenttransport.

 

Please read through the Safety Notes in these

 

instructions, and be sure to observe our recom

 

mendationsrelatingtolocationandsettingup.

 

Setupthemachinesoneontopoftheotherasshow nin thewiringdiagramsintheappendix.

Note:

Ifyouprefertosetupthemachinesonasinglele vel(in linearrangement),youwillneedthe 'MQ 820' mounting set,whichisavailableasanaccessory.Thisinclu desthe longercablesrequired,andsealedcasecoverswith out cableopenings.

Ifyouwishtosetupthesystemonadelicate(pai nted) surface, check on an unobtrusive area that the equi p ment’sfeetwillnotdamagethesurface.

The remote control receiverislocatedwithinthearea oftheintegralscreen.

Forthis reasonit is important to set up the syste

m so

thatthereisdirectvisualcontactbetweenthescr

eenand

theremotecontroltransmitter(handset). Themaxim um rangeis6metres.

Infraredreceptioncanbedisturbediflightingle velsare excessive. Energysaving bulbs and fluorescent tube s areparticularlypowerfulsourcesofinterference.

The sketch below shows the radius of action of the remotecontrolsystem.

If the reception conditions are especially difficul

t (e.g.

concealed location, or lightinginduced interferenc

e, we

recommend the use of the

E 2000 external remote

controlreceiver.

 

 

Wiring

Note:

Disconnect the mains plug at the wall socket before carryingoutanywiringonthesystem.

Openthebackpanelflapsbyswivellingthemupward .

•For the stereo version of the

M 820 system (i.e. no

DD820 M surround decoder), please connect the equipmentasshowninwiringdiagram1a(standard) or 1b(biwiring). Youwillfindthewiringdiagramsi nthe Appendix.

•For the surround version of the

M 820 system (i.e.

including the DD 820 M surround decoder), please

connecttheequipmentasshowninthewiringdiagra

m

includedinthe DD 820 Moperatinginstructions.

 

Routetheleadsrunningtotheupperunitsinthes

tack

through the appropriate cover openings in the lower

units.

 

 

 

Mainscables,loudspeakercablesandthe

M LINKleads

shouldbekeptasfarawayaspossiblefromsignal

leads

(Cinch leads) and the aerial cable, to avoid advers

e

effectsonreproductionquality.

 

 

 

To achieve maximum possible signal : noise ratio we recommendthatyoutwisttogetherthetwoCinchlea ds between the PT 820 M and the PA 820 M as shown in thedrawingbelow.

Therightangledaerialplugsuppliedshouldbeuse

dto

connectyouraerialsystemtothe

PT 820 M.

 

When you have completed all the connections please closethebackpanelflaps.
