PROBLEM

Engine clicks but will not start

Loss of power

CAUSE

1Weak or dead battery+

2 Corroded battery terminals_

3 Loose or damaged wiring+

4 Faulty solenoid or starter+

1 Cutting too much grass/too fast.

2Throttle in "CHOKE" position.

3Build-up of grass, leaves and trash under mower,.

4Didy air filter,,

5Low oil level/dirty oil,.

6Faulty spark plug,

CORRECTION

1Recharge or replace battery.

2Clean battery terminals°

3Check all wiring.

4Check/replace solenoid or starter.,

1Raise cutting height/reduce speed+

2Adjust throttle control.

3Clean underside of mower housing_

4Clean/replace air filter+

5Check oil level/change oil.,

6Clean and regap or change spark plug,

7Dirty fuel filter°

8Stale or dirty fuel.

9Water in fuel+

10Spark plug wire loose.

11Dirty engine air screen/fins+

12Dirty/clogged muffler.

13Loose or damaged wiring+

14Carburetor out of adjustment,

15Engine valves out of adjustment,,

Excessive vibration 1 Worn, bent or loose blade.

2Bent blade mandrel.

7Replace fuel filter.

BEmpty fuel tank and refill tank with fresh, clean gasoline,,

9Empty fuel tank and carburetor, refill tank with fresh gasoline and replace fuel filter.

10 Connect and tighten spark plug wire,

11Clean engine air screen/fins_

12Clean/replace muffler.

13Check all wiring_

14See "To Adjust Carburetor" in Service and Adjustments sectiom

15Contact a Sears or other qualified service center.

1Replace blade_ Tighten blade bolt.!

2 Contact a Sears or other

qualified service center,

3 Loose/damaged part(s)+
