42 CHAPTER 3: CONFIGURING IP TELEPHONY
IP Messaging
Configuration To configure voice mailboxes, the simplest method is to:
Create a telephone profile.
Select the Create Mailbox option in that profile.
When you create a user manually, select the profile.
If you use the Data Import method to create users, include the name of
the telephone profile as one of the parameters on each line of the
imported file. See “Adding Users” on page 43.
To add configure other IP Messaging parameters, use the IP Messaging
Administration web browser interface.
1Open a browser window and navigate to the IP address of the primary
VCX Connect server.
2Click IP Messaging Web Provisioning.
3Enter the administrative login ID and password.
CAUTION: The default login ID is sockroot and the default password is
secret. For security reasons, 3Com strongly recommends that customers
change the default password for this account. See “About the IP
Messaging Provisioning Password” on page 47 for instructions on how to
change the default password for the IP Messaging Web Provisioning
interface.
4Configure the parameters described in table 3. Detailed instructions on
how to configure these parameters are found in the IP Messaging
Operations and System Administration Guide.

Create and Configure Prompts To customize the greetings that callers hear
when they call certain extensions, you can
record your own prompts and configure the
system to play them.
If you use a CODEC other than the system
default, you must convert the recorded
prompts into the appropriate file format and
place the converted prompt files in the
appropriate directory.
